 Dublin, California, March 29, 2004 --- Zendex Corporation announces two special, low cost versions of the venerable ZXE-UFE/104P I/O board. The ZXE-USB2.0/104P is a PC/104+ compatible interface board that provides four high-speed USB 2.0 ports for a fast 480Mbit/sec data transfer rate. The board plugs into any standard PC/104+ card stack and interfaces seamlessly with the standard PCI bus with "Plug and Play" simplicity. The ZXE-FWSB/104P provides two high-speed 400Mbit/sec FireWire ports. It also interfaces seamlessly with the standard PCI bus. The ZXE-USB2.0/104P and ZXE-FWSB/104P boards are derived from the fully-featured ZXE-UFE/104P, a time-proven design that includes four high speed USB 2.0 ports, two FireWire ports and one 10/100 Fast Ethernet port for a total of seven high speed I/O ports for applications that require multiple peripherals.. USB 2.0 and FireWire ports are significantly faster than the 12 Mbit/sec standard USB 1.1 port. These I/O cards are useful in applications with numerous optional peripheral devices, and for OEM systems that will be field-upgraded with peripherals. Typical applications include video imaging, industrial control, security systems, electronic kiosks and medical instruments. "We derived the USB 2.0 and FireWire variants of the time-proven, fully-featured ZXE-UFE/104P board to meet the demand for low cost boards with only one type of I/O port." explained Howard Czapla, Zendex CEO. "These boards are a low cost way for OEMs to add many different peripherals at final assembly, or even add-ons in the field." All boards include an ISA bus feed-through that allows PC/104 ISA bus products to be stacked above or below the ZXE-UFE board. In addition, the 2.5 watt power consumption makes them useful for low power or battery-powered applications. The ZXE-USB2.0/104P is priced at $198 in unit quantities. The ZXE-FWSB/104P is priced at $215 in unit quantities. Both cards are available 2 weeks after order.
